Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about selling your laptop with us, from getting a quote through to getting paid.

How it works

How does the service work?

  1. Enter your laptop details using our online quote system
  2. Accept the quote and complete checkout
  3. Book a free DPD collection (quotes over £20), use a DPD shop (£10 to £20) or post it to us yourself (under £10)
  4. Send your laptop to us
  5. We check it and pay you the same day, within 24 hours of it arriving

For a full breakdown, visit our How It Works page.

How long is my quote valid for?

Your price is held for 14 days after you confirm your order, so there’s no rush to send it.

What should I send?

Please send:

  • The laptop
  • The charger (if available)

Keep your proof of postage until payment is completed.

How should I package my laptop?

If DPD is collecting it (quotes over £20), you don’t need to: the driver brings a secure box. If you’re taking it to a DPD shop or posting it, use a sturdy box and padding such as bubble wrap so it can’t move around.

For full guidance, view our Packaging Instructions.

Inspection and payment

What happens during inspection?

We:

  • Verify the model and specifications
  • Check the condition matches your description
  • Confirm the device has not been reported stolen
  • Test basic functionality

If the device matches your description, payment is issued.

If there is a discrepancy, we will contact you with a revised offer before proceeding. If we find damage or a screen fault, your order page shows our photos of it.

What if I decline a revised offer?

If you choose not to accept a revised valuation, your laptop will be returned to you free of charge, provided it is a model listed on our website.

When do I get paid?

The same day we check your laptop: within 24 hours of it arriving on a working day.

We pay by:

  • Bank transfer
  • PayPal

Your laptop

Do you buy broken laptops?

Yes.

You can select “Faulty / Non Working” when generating your quote. Valuations for faulty devices are based on recoverable components.

For more details, you can sell a broken laptop through our service.

Do I need to wipe my laptop before sending it?

We fully wipe every laptop when it arrives, but if you can, reset it before you send it as well. Our guide to wiping a laptop shows how.

If your laptop won’t start, you don’t need to do anything: we take its drive out and wipe it separately.

What if my model is not listed?

If your laptop model is not listed in our quote system, please contact us and we’ll assist you.

I live outside the UK – can I still sell?

We may accept laptops from outside the UK, but free DPD collection and DPD shop drop-off are only available within the UK. Contact us before sending one.

What if I don’t have the charger?

Send the laptop anyway and choose the condition it’s in. A missing or broken charger never changes the grade. Without a working charger we take £10 off an Excellent laptop, or £75 off an Excellent gaming or workstation laptop; Good and Faulty prices stay the same.
