How do I find my processor brand?
How do I find my processor brand?
Look for the sticker
Most laptops have a small Intel or AMD sticker on the palm rest, beside the touchpad.
In Windows
Open Settings, then System, then About. The line headed Processor starts with Intel or AMD. Our spec guide has pictures of each screen.
If it won't turn on
Turn it over. The label underneath carries the model number (on HP, the "Product" or "P/N" line), and that's enough to look up everything else. Or ring us on 01440 784570 with the model number and we'll look it up.

Asus laptops we buy
We buy Asus Zenbook, Vivobook and ExpertBook laptops. Asus Chromebooks aren’t Windows machines and aren’t on our form. ROG and TUF gaming laptops have their own Asus ROG and TUF page.
Finding your Asus’s model and processor
The sticker underneath gives the model code (X515EA or UX3402ZA, for example) and the serial number. The MyASUS app shows both on a working laptop. The code before the dash is enough for us to look an Asus up, and Windows shows the processor too: see our spec guide.
Reading Asus model names
The number in the range name is the screen size: a Vivobook 15 is 15.6-inch and a Zenbook 14 is 14-inch. In the model code, the letters after the digits change when the processor does:
- Vivobook 15 X515JA: 10th-generation Intel
- Vivobook 15 X515EA: 11th generation
- Zenbook 14 UX3402ZA: 12th generation
- Zenbook 14 UX3402VA: 13th generation
A code starting UM, such as the Zenbook 14 UM3402YA, has an AMD Ryzen inside.
What changes the price
- Those letters. An X515JA and an X515EA look the same from outside, and the EA is a generation newer.
- On an Asus under 15 inches, a 13.3 or 14-inch Zenbook for instance, the screen size can affect the price, depending on the condition.
- Send the charger if you have it. A lost or dead charger takes £10 off an Excellent Asus and leaves the grade alone; Good and Faulty prices stay the same.
- Screen, hinge and keyboard faults, or no power at all, count as Faulty, which selling a broken laptop explains.
Asus laptop questions
Payment, collection and data wiping are covered on our FAQs page.
Is a Vivobook worth less than a Zenbook?
Only if its processor is older or its screen is smaller. Match those and the condition, and the two ranges pay the same.
My sticker says X515EA-BQ943T. Which part matters?
X515EA, the part before the dash. The rest names the exact configuration Asus sold.
Do you buy the ExpertBook?
Yes. It’s Asus’s business range, and it’s priced on the same processor, screen size and condition rules as a Vivobook.
