Look for the sticker
Most laptops have a small Intel or AMD sticker on the palm rest, beside the touchpad.
In Windows
Open Settings, then System, then About. The line headed Processor starts with Intel or AMD. Our spec guide has pictures of each screen.
If it won't turn on
Turn it over. The label underneath carries the model number (on HP, the "Product" or "P/N" line), and that's enough to look up everything else. Or ring us on 01440 784570 with the model number and we'll look it up.

Finding your PC Specialist’s model and processor
PC Specialist builds each laptop to order on a chassis from a maker such as Clevo or Tongfang. A chassis code tells you the body, and nothing about which parts went in. The build spec is in your order confirmation email, or under My Orders in your PC Specialist account. The sticker underneath carries the order number, which PC Specialist’s driver download page also accepts. Our spec guide shows how to read the processor in Windows.
Your order also names the graphics card, and our form asks for it. If you’ve lost the order, Task Manager shows the card: hold Ctrl and Shift, press Esc, then look under Performance for the GPU labelled NVIDIA or AMD.
Reading PC Specialist model names
The number in a range name is the screen size: a Recoil 16 is 16-inch and an Ionico 18 is 18. Range names don’t give the generation. PC Specialist has kept names such as Recoil across several years and chassis, so check the processor itself.
What changes the price
- The graphics card you chose when you ordered.
- The processor and its generation. Intel Core from the 8th generation is on the gaming form, with AMD Ryzen by series.
- Screen size. Under 14 inches pays less; a 15.6, 16, 17.3 or 18-inch build pays the full rate.
- Condition. Without the charger it shipped with, the laptop is Good. Liquid damage, dead pixels or no power make it Faulty, which we still buy: selling a broken laptop.

It’s the chassis. Give us the processor and card from your build spec, which is what we price.
I've lost my order email. How else do I get the spec?
Log in to your PC Specialist account and open My Orders. Or read the processor in Windows Settings and the card in Task Manager.
Is a PC Specialist worth less than a big-name gaming laptop?
No. We price the chip, the card, the screen and its condition, at the same gaming rate as Alienware or MSI.
