How much is my laptop worth?

Gigabyte laptops we buy

We buy Gigabyte Aorus laptops (Aorus 15, 15P, 15X, 17, 17H and 17X) and the G5 and G6. We don’t buy Gigabyte desktops, motherboards or separate graphics cards.

Finding your Gigabyte’s model and processor

Gigabyte prints the model and serial number on a white sticker under the laptop. Gigabyte Control Center’s dashboard shows processor and graphics load and temperature. Windows names the processor too, and our spec guide shows where.

The quote form also asks for the graphics card. Task Manager names it: open it from the Start button’s right-click menu, go to Performance, and pick the GPU entry naming NVIDIA or AMD.

Reading Gigabyte model names

The number after Aorus or G is the screen size: Aorus 15 and G5 are 15.6-inch, Aorus 17 is 17.3 and G6 is 16. Gigabyte’s own site puts the generation or the year in brackets after the name:

  • AORUS 15P (Intel 11th Gen): 11th-generation Intel
  • AORUS 17 (Intel 12th Gen) and G5 (Intel 12th Gen): 12th generation
  • AORUS 15 (2023): 13th generation
  • G5 (2023): 12th or 13th generation, depending on the build, so check the processor itself

What changes a Gigabyte’s price

  • The card. RTX 4050 and 4060 share one option; an RTX 4070 or 3080 has its own.
  • The processor and its generation. The gaming form lists Intel Core from 8th generation up.
  • Condition. Excellent means light wear and everything working. Without a working charger it stays Excellent and we take £75 off; Good and Faulty prices don’t change.
  • Faults. A dead screen or liquid damage is Faulty, which still sells to us. See selling a broken laptop.

Selling a gaming laptop has more on how we check the card.

Gigabyte laptop questions

Payment, collection and data wiping are covered on our FAQs page.

Is an Aorus worth more than a G5?

Not for the name. An Aorus and a G5 with identical chips and cards, and in the same state, are priced identically.

My Gigabyte's sticker has gone. How do I find the model?

Press the Windows key, type System Information and open it. System Model gives the name, which matches Gigabyte’s product pages.

How do I enter an Aorus with an RTX 4050?

Choose Nvidia, then RTX 4050 / 4060. The form lists those two cards as one option.
