Is my laptop a gaming laptop?
Gaming laptops
Gaming laptops have a separate graphics card, an NVIDIA GeForce (GTX or RTX) or AMD Radeon RX, and are usually sold under a gaming name: Acer Predator or Nitro, Asus ROG or TUF, Dell Alienware, HP Omen, Lenovo Legion, MSI, Razer, Gigabyte, Medion or PC Specialist. The card adds to the price, so choose Gaming laptop.
Regular laptops
Everyday, student and business laptops: Dell Latitude or Inspiron, HP EliteBook or ProBook, Lenovo ThinkPad or IdeaPad, Microsoft Surface and the like. Choose Regular laptop.
Check for a graphics card
Press Ctrl, Shift and Esc together, open Performance and look at the GPU entries. If one says NVIDIA GeForce or AMD Radeon RX, it’s a gaming laptop. If you only see Intel or AMD built-in graphics, it’s a regular one.

Do all brands pay the same?
Eight of the twelve do. Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus, Acer, Huawei, Microsoft and Samsung pay the same for the same processor and condition. Fujitsu, LG, Sony and Toshiba pay a fifth less for the same laptop, and the gaming brands a fifth more before their graphics card is added.
My laptop has two brand names on it. Which do I choose?
Choose the range if it has its own button. A Dell G15 goes through Alienware / Dell, a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming through Lenovo Legion, and an Acer Nitro through Predator / Nitro. Otherwise choose the maker whose name is on the lid.
Does the model matter, or only the brand?
The model matters through what’s inside it: the processor and its generation, the screen size and, on a gaming laptop, the graphics card. Two laptops of the same brand with the same processor, screen size and condition get the same price.
Do you buy Chromebooks or MacBooks?
No. We only buy laptops that run Windows, so a Chromebook or a MacBook can’t go through the form, whichever brand made it.
